The art show will take place on Sunday, October 28, from 1
to 4 PM at the
South County Museum.
The Southern Rhode Island Conservation District (SRICD) is
producing an art fundraiser entitled, Art and the Natural
World in October, 2007. Artists from around the state
are invited to paint/photograph the special places in
Southern Rhode Island and enter their work in an art show
the District will host.
Aside from raising money for the District, the purpose of
our fundraiser is to memorialize, and raise the visibility
of, the special places in the Southern Rhode Island
Conservation District. As subjects, the District hopes
artists will include historic buildings, museums,
farmsscapes as well as still life of flowers and/or
vegetables grown on site, preserved open space, buildings on
the National Register and pond, lake and river locations
where the RI and Narrow River Watershed Watch organizations
collect their data for science.
The District has a list of farmers who welcome artists to
their farms. Artists registering with us will receive
contact information for those farms and other pertinent
information. Registration, for artists and farmers, is
free of charge.
Simply call us at 401-949-1480.
All paintings/photographs will have the name of the site
where the artwork was generated in the title to make viewers
aware of the rich array of special places in Southern Rhode
Island. As an example, a picture might be entitled, 'Doorway
of the South County Museum'
Please fill out this form if you would like your location to
be a special place that can be used by artists or if you are
an artist and would like to take part in the show: view
