communitygardenSRICD is excited to announce the Westerly Community Gardens and Green Streets project. SRICD was awarded an urban agriculture conservation grant through a partnership with the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to boost technical capacity nationwide.

The grant will allow SRICD to expand our partnerships to include backyard gardeners, businesses and the Town of Westerly. SRICD will use NACD grant funds to provide technical assistance to citizens and groups engaged in urban agriculture in their backyards and at community green spaces in Westerly in support of the town’s conservation goals.

SRICD will develop conservation practice demonstration sites, host workshops, and create educational materials.
