About Us
Connecting the community to locally grown and harvested foods
The Fresh Harvest Kitchen is a project of the Southern Rhode Island Conservation District (SRICD) developed to support local food producers and create a more resilient local food system while assisting the residents of Washington and Kent Counties to conserve their natural resources now and for future generations.
Through the Fresh Harvest Kitchen, we help facilitate the distribution of locally grown, harvested and produced foods by providing access to wholesale and retail sales opportunities to artisanal fishermen, small-scale farmers and local food businesses. The facility is a fully licensed commercial seafood dealer and processing kitchen allowing us to buy directly from fishermen and offer the community some of the freshest seafood in the area.
Our market offers fresh local produce, seafood, farm products and other hand made items as well as freshly prepared lunch specials using local ingredients. We also offer educational programs and tasting events to connect the community with local food sources and how to prepare them.
The Fresh Harvest Kitchen is located in Westerly, Rhode Island, strategically situated to serve both urban and rural communities in the Southern District of Rhode Island. Westerly is a coastal community with both municipal and private marinas, over 20 commercial fishermen, home to several farms, and easily accessible to farmers, fishers, and customers via US Route 1 and Interstate 95.
